Sport fishing in Guanacaste

Tourism Chamber of Guanacaste features Sport Fishing Tour at the sunny side of Costa Rica.

There are few things in this world more enjoyable than a day spent out on the open water, fishing away with friends or family. Most caught fish are immediately thrown back into the water. In order to prevent de-population, fishing in Costa Rica is strictly governed by legislation from different administrations.

Guanacaste is an excellent destination for sport fishing. The hot tropical waters are favorable to a vast marine life. Flamingo Beach, for example, is one of the best sport fishing centers of the Pacific North. Sport fishing boats generally go out from Coco Beach, Tamarindo, Ocotal, Potrero, Brasilito and other intermediate points on a regular basis.

Best seasons for fishing;
Pacific Blue Marlin: May, October and November
Black Marlin; May, June, October and November
Pacific Sailfish; November - April
Dorado; October - April
Snapper; All year long
Yellow-fin Tuna; May - November
Sword fish; December - April

Most fish can still be caught at all times during the year, but the above months are generally the best.

Many locations around Guanacaste offer fishing excursions. Please search in
the ‘search/buscar’ location above, or check out our ‘services’ section for specific details of where to find
